fender paint protector

fender paint protector

i saw a hhr tonite that had a matching protective panel on the front of the rear fender. it was the same color as the rest of the paint it looked really good. i don't know who made it or what it was made of. gm?

Without a Pic, I think its invisible Protector, My dad has something like that on his GXP. Goes on clear and blends with the paint.

GM - I think you 're seeing the 06-07 models w/o running boards have the matching protective panel. It seems on the new 08 on up they went to a clear/transperent overlay

i have them. they look like crap. road debris sand blasts them into a nice ugly finish.

i would think it would be easier/cheaper to pull them off and repaint them , than it would to repaint the fender.

True, but it'd probably be easier still to pull off the protective film every couple of years, and just sticking fresh on. The little 1/4" wide strip of the leading edge of the fender bulge that isn't covered by the protective panel is getting blasted pretty well on mine.

thats how mine looks. only reason i want running boards. i may go for the ss effects tho. they look better.
