Front Window Tint ?
Front Window Tint ?
I was thinking about putting on some front window tint on my 07 2LT
Anyone know what would match the factory tint in the back.
I would actually like to go a little bit lighter.
Would the 35% smoke match.
Through the years I have installed window tint on different vehicles.
I see on ebay they have the precut
anyone ever use this on there hhr?
Do you have to pull off the door panels or is there some way to tuck it under the felt on the interior.

And check with your local law enforcement folks! Just because ebay will sell it to you does not mean it's legal or safe. The front side windows on my 2008 LT are already tinted from the factory 70% the rear side windows 21%, every HHR that I have noticed is the same. I do know that there is a limit to the tint in my state anyway, I assume most states and some localities. The main thing is they want the policeman to have a clear view into the car when he makes a traffic stop, in other words when they say safe they are talking about the policeman's safety, not yours.
I don't know about New York, but in Ohio, law is no darker than 50%. Now, granted, I have 35% on mine because I use to use it for covert ops for my old job doing security.. Now, with my 35% on the front over the 70% I'd say its probably about 30% dark.. It's just a smidge lighter, but not by much.
New York State Vehicle Code section 375, subsection 12-b.
B. No person shall operate any motor vehicle upon any public highway,
road or street:
(1) the front windshield of which is composed of, covered by or
treated with any material which has a light transmittance of less than
seventy percent unless such materials are limited to the uppermost six
inches of the windshield; or
(2) the sidewings or side windows of which on either side forward of
or adjacent to the operator's seat are composed of, covered by or
treated with any material which has a light transmittance of less than
seventy percent.
You could get a "fix it" ticket or fail your annual safety inspection by tinting the front windows in NY State.

sorry sir... i tried tinting my window when i was a kid (many moons ago) and they came out looking like dark bubble wrap...
now i pay someone that knows what they are doing.. will get it done faster and will stand behind their work.

The ebay tint will likely not be of the quality that a local tint shop uses..
I buy tint (as needed) from local shops, they guarantee tint lifetime from fading to a funky blue..
IIRC, every windshield (these days) has a mark on the pass side, as to how low a tint strip may be applied..
Of course local laws may vary on what they consider legal..(eyes roll)
But that has never stopped me..
