h13 silverstar update

Thank you for taking the time to contact us with your inquiry. Part H13 is still not yet available in a SilverStar upgrade. We have received many requests for this part in a SilverStar upgrade, but we were unable to begin developing this part in a SilverStar upgrade until just recently. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) wrote into the original specification for this part that the glass capsule portion of the lamp must remain a clear quartz glass. Part of upgrading a part to SilverStar is coating the capsule with an amethyst colored enamel. NHTSA had specified that we could not do that to this part. We appealed this standard through NHTSA, resulting in a change in the wording, allowing us to finally offer a SilverStar upgrade for this part, but this part is still under development. We are hoping to launch this part sometime in the late fall to early winter timeframe. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly if you have any other questions or require further assistance.

I just thought about it. I should have sent them an email instead of checking the auto parts store at least once a week. Oh well, I picked up some other cool stuff in process.

Please remember to become a Supporting Vendor when the time comes to release your product.

as a reminder on the site rules: in part...
"If you are developing a product, you may talk about it until you have it ready and/or you are taking orders for the product. At that point you must become a Supporting Vendor to be able to promote your products. "

All the FAQ info can be found *HERE*.

Sindy, if you check his others posts I think he was just trying to find one and ended up contacting the manufacturer and is just sharing the info. Check this thread. I could be wrong though.

Huh? He posted a response to an email from Sylvania. I doubt they are going to become a supporting vendor. You can buy SilverStars at every auto parts store and some stores like Walmart. At least one of our supporting vendors sells them if not multiple ones.

Ok, well, I dident see it as a reply to an email. I was focused on the end part that seemed to be going towards a vendor issue.

Then let it just be a reminder if attempting to sell porducts directly through this Forum.
If indeed it was a response from Sylvania, I see where it's going now that more into has been stated. Thanks guys.

Bulbs only last about a year.

Not to bust a bubble, but more of an FYI.
I had Silverstars on my old pickup, and they lasted three years. Now, my new truck, they only last 8 months. Sylvania has a one year warranty on these, and they also state you`ll only get about one years worth of use out of them, according to their website.
The Trailblazer the wife traded in had them also, and they lasted about a year. That one had the DRL`s as the main beam. Just like my old C1500, but that one, the voltage increased to the lamp when the lights were turned on by the switch.
I really do not understand why there was so much difference.
I contacted Sylvania when my original set on the new truck went bad, and the did a courtesy warranty exchage for me as I did not have a receipt.

Just putting some info out there on these, not to scare anyone away from them.
I like the actuall vision that they give compared to OEM.
Much brighter.
