Highway driving soon... need front end protection!

Hey all, I'm getting ready for the first outa state road trip with Jack and i want to know all the ideas you guys and gals have come up with for protecting the front end from the bugs, road grime, and general crap that flies up at you on the highway. I really don't wanna go with a bra because i always see them flapping at high speeds and I'd think that would be doing more damage than good... I have heard of spraying the cooking spray on the front so the grime and bugs are wiped off with ease. There is also that spray on protector that (Duplicolor) makes that looks like flat black spray paint. Has anyone tried this before. I have about another week and 1/2 before i head to the mountains and i just want to make sure the front of the car is protected. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks! you all are #

IMO the best is to clean the car very well and a good car wax with 2,3 or more coats on the parts that will take the hits the most.
A lower grill screen or somthing down there. I see that you live in FL. then you know about love bugs. I have a screen on the back side of the top grill that I keep on all year to stop bugs and other stuff off A/C cond. and rad.
I have the gutter guard lower grill on all three of the familys HHR. you can find the post here someplace

Try this. I believe you can find something very similar at an auto parts store. Just a thought

Thanks for the input oneton! i have the gutter guard in the top and bottom grilles... and god do we love the love bugs...

I just got the car all cleaned up and i will probably put a couple more coats of wax on it later this week. I just hate traveling on the highway because it always seems like everyone else doesn't care what they hit, kick up, or throw your way.

I had my HHR for 4 days and was on my way back to the dealer about 40 miles up the highway to have the spoiler installed and I got behind a truck carrying rock and needless to say i had 3 good chips out of the hood with less than 100 miles on the car... I was furious, the dealer was nice enough to touch it up and give me the left over paint from the spoiler encase i found more chips... I just want to steer clear of all that this time. I will be towing the bike so evasive maneuvers will be out of the question... LOL

There was one member that tried the spray and even though it worked, it was hard to remove. There is a 3M film you can get and leave it on. search google for invisible shield.

No I havent used it. I get there catalog and he has some great stuff. His stuff is for the SERIOUS car care detailer. The only thing I don't like is his shipping charges. Good think his warehouse is in my area and I can go there and pick it up.

I’m thinking’ a wand style car wash every couple hundred miles before the bugs/tar coagulate?
