Hood Tilt Kit
I see the Kits and have always liked the Look they give.
I was thinking about doing the Reverse Tilt Hood to my HHR Panel.
After doing the ol Google search and finding a couple Kits decided to do a "search" here and found this thread.
I am wondering, did anyone actually buy a Kit and give it a try?

I have been told by several people is that the problem is that the hood would have to be raised a little before you could open the tilt hood. I have gone to a custom builder here in Vegas and he says he can do it but it could take up to 20 plus hours ti design. Maybe some day but not today.
See ya down the road

ive looked into this myself..looks like its doable by a c hair...ive got a guy here in Ontario workin on it for me..plans on an off season thing for the panel..the auto loc looks good but will need some minor modifications..time to crack out the mig welder....it will prob be after x-mas before I do this but I will post pics as I go with it..maybe now folks can see my flames at the shows when I have my hood up!!!

Auto Loc seems to be the Brand of Kits sold all over the web, I even saw a HHR parts seller selling the Auto Loc on their website.
AutoLoc has 3 versions of Kits starting at $250.00 then $844.00 for Automatic Operation and then $1,246.00 for Automatic Operation Remote Activated.
I want it to be at least Automatic. Hate to find out it won't work or you have to cut it up and modify it so much that youd be better off just starting with steel stock and go from there. ???
More research needed I guess, I sure hoped someone from this thread had actually done it by now.

Thanks
I do remember a car that had a reverse hood that flipped up and forward but can't remember what car it was. It was over 20 years ago when I was a full time body & fender man.
I believe it had rubber wheels that rolled along the fenders inner lip?
This would be great, but the problem I see is the thin sheet metal. I can clearly see installing the kit, and then the first time I push on the hood, it crumples. Not to mention the tops of the fenders which can indent even from washing too hard.
How will you work inside the engine compartment from the sides? I just can't see it.
Maybe a kit that lifts the entire front end (both hood and fenders) like a semi truck?

A flip front would be really cool on this body..... except for the fact that when it was opened the engine sits the wrong way and is missing 4 cylinders....
(besides the obvious it would lose all it's crash safety rating...... Nice to say "just don't crash it" but those are not usually planned......)
