Unhappy How to repair clearcoated wheels?

I have the highly polished 17 inch aluminum wheels on my 2LT. While cleaning them during tire rotation, one fell against a metal cart. It wasn't a hard hit but the clearcoat is damaged in an area about 1/2 inch in size on the spoke face.

I don't think the aluminum is damaged but the clearcoat is. Can this be sanded/ buffed and touched up?

I have sanded clearcoated paints with 1500-2000 grit and buffed before so I'm willing to try on the wheels.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I recently reconditioned a set of Alloy wheels on my Sons Integra. His were in pretty bad shape. Took us about 10 hours to do it. Yours will be much easier.

All you need to do is go to Autozone and buy a can of Clear Coat made for Wheels. (It is made for heat) Then take some very fine sand paper (500 grit is what I used) and feather the damaged area. Tape off the tire and then spray on 3 light coats of the clear. You should never notice the difference.
