Laminated vs. tempered windows

Hey, folks:

I was wondering if anyone could confirm for me that only the windshield in the 2007 HHR is laminated, and that all other window glass (sides and rear) is tempered. Class rules (for land-speed racing) dictate that all non-laminated glass must be replaced with polycarbonate (Lexan), but I want to confirm which glass is which on the car before I take the plunge.

Thanks!

Gary

Windshield is laminated, all other glass is tempered. This is required under FMVSS Standard No. 205, effective January 1, 1968.

The glass type is either etched or stamped on the glass, usually in the lower left hand corner.

But, if you remove the glass carfully Gary, there is a market for it on e-Bay or here in the Classifieds section.

Thanks very much! I had a feeling that I could check the window itself to find out, but unfortunately, the car is off being worked on. But this info should do the trick. And thanks also for the tip on selling the glass--I may just do that! :-)

Any parts you can sell off will defer some of your build cost. As the HHR fleet ages, the demand for good used parts will only increase.
