led lights
What about the front map lights???
OK, thanks to this thread I bought a few LED's from superbrightleds.com to replace the interior dome and map lights (super easy to install!
). What I need to know is what's the bulb number for the FRONT map lights in an '09 SS? All the rear lights (dome/map combo in the center- [FYI you'll need 3 LED bulbs here if you want the map lights to be LED's too] and the rear light in the cargo area) are replaced w/ the 4410 led, the Sylvania site lists the map lights as either 211 for the cargo area or 212-2 for the center maplights, and the dome light as a 578 which is right on for the center dome light/map light combo, but incorrect for the front map lights since those are push in wedge-type bulbs... Sylvania lists the center dome light as a 578 and superbrightleds will tell you that an RL4410 will work, but it won't, regular 4410's will work perfectly though! Anyone know the correct number for those two front map light bulbs???

EDIT: Well after calling 2 local Chevy dealers it seems that in the '09 SS w/ sunroof- the front overhead console where the map lights and sunroof buttons are, is actually ONE PIECE! Sooo, the bulbs can't be changed unless the entire piece comes out and gets replaced, argggh... (
what was Chevy thinking?!!)

but lets see some pics
Can't believe what, that the overhead console's 1 unit? I took the lens off one side and the bulb sits behind a reflector. It looks like the bulb won't fit through the opening that's there unless the reflector's removed, and when I started to remove that aluminum piece it bent like warm butter so I stopped
. That's when I called the dealers and the both said the same thing. If I were more "electrically handy" I'd remove the whole thing and custom build some LED'S to replace what's there but I'm not.
I'm sure something can be done; maybe when I feel more adventurous I'll dive back in there again to see if those bulbs can be removed w/o it being a massive PITA. I'll get pics up this weekend of what I have installed.
