Maple tree sap
What is the best way to get this stuff off the car..it is hard as a rock now. I've read let is soak but after this weekend and the rain it did soak and it is still hard. I've heard Rudding Alcohol but watch the paint. I hate to go spend more money on cleaning stuff if I don't need to. Any suggestions.

I have used Turtle Wax brand bug and tar remover with great results. It doesn't strip wax, and in fact adds a bit of wax as you work, and desolves all the bad stuff with a minimum of scrubbing. Bought mine at Walmart. Hope it helps.

back in the day I used to use tilex to get the tree sap off of our swimming pool slide. then I would wax that sucker up. talk about a fast ride!
I don't however reccomend this method for your car. Great for a fiberglass pool slide bad for your car

Is pine tree sap the same thing...? I let the car sit in the sun for a while, then used a plastic putty knife to lift the worst of the sap.
Then used a non-ammonia window cleaner and the rest wiped away.
Cleaned and polished after. No signs of the sap.

ive used the turtle wax stuff before and it says that its harmless to your paint but after working on a stubborn bug i noticed that the rag was turning blue, would that not mean it was taking off some of the paint?

Go to your friendly quarter (s) car wash and blow it off. I have found this works with road tar and bug splatter also. Probably will not remove all traces but it will reduce the problem to one you can deal with easily.
