Would Diesel Fuel Work? I know it works great for pulling off Stickers.

Diesel fuel or kerosene should work as well. Turtle Wax Bug and Tar remover, has our use to have kerosene in it to remove the bugs and tar. Probably has some wax and other stuff in it too.

When ever I have had to use it, I always waxed the area well any way.

Now, I also know paints have changed quite a bit since I was a kid. So I'd like to hear from a pro what diesel fuel and the like might do to paint.
