my first pre-mod

since i have time waiting for my SS panel to arrive. i started on my first custom mod. i bought a new rear gate applique so i could have it de-bowtied before my HHR comes in.

here is the brand new applique.

here it is stripped of all gaskets, switch, screws, and bowtie.

here it is after i removed the aluminum plating and ground down the raised bowtie. now i just need to fill in the missing areas and paint it black.

i also have the grill frame trim piece on order. it should be here in three days. i will also remove the bowtie from that grill piece too. so when my SS arrives, i will be able to completely debadge the whole car in an hour or so.

tony

automotive epoxy follow by evercoat rage xtreme body filler. next will be PPG polyester primer, black base coat and urathane clear.

auto epoxy like duramix or automix? I just used duramix on my grille, haven't sanded and finished yet.

the rear gate applique bar is now paint ready. i wanted to paint the grill frame and this bar the same time, but the grill frame trim piece never came in. it's on back order. my plan is no exterior emblems on my ss panel. that means the two huge Bowties had to go too.
