my grille and hood stripe mods

The grille was done with matte black vinyl. I initially planned to make the whole grille black, including side frames, except the top bar. I started late that day, and only had 3 bars done by dinner time. So I gave up, and ended up with what you see now.

The hood stripe is glossy black vinyl, 6 inches wide, 3 inches apart. It's easier than what I thought to put it on. I actually did not use any liquid assistant. The rear end was also vinylized, but due to wrong measurement, it looks terrible with a few feet.

The whole mods cost me $35 and some hours.

I have an extra grill I just got paint for...will ask my 'artist' what he thinks of this!

I have to tell you..I am not a fan of vinyl at all. I have painted many grilles, and have painted the bowties for lots of the SoCal'ers. Done the beauty bars etc... BUT.. That is one of the best looking grilles I have seen! The stripes on the hood really bring it together, If you haven't done it already, you need to do the stripes down the back of the hatch. Congrats, great job, Todd (Uma)

can someone photoshop the racing stripes out and put the grille on a blue HHR to see if I like the grille by itself. I'd like to maybe do that.
That grille and those stripes were meant for eachother and it looks awesome on that color as well. Very nice job

To me, racing stripes are like spoilers. They belong on vehicles that do over 140 mph regularly. The grille is gorgeous! Tell us more, please about the vinyl (NOT paint, afs9) you used. Where did you get it and did you have to squeeze any bubbles out, etc. How did you apply, etc. thnx!
