need opinions for dash idea...

im sure most of you have seen my headliner that i upholstered in a dark gray suede (nice accent against the stock Ebony panels)

if not, heres a pic

anyways, i have the A and B pillars wrapped in this suede, as well as the chrome ring around my shifter.

my new door panels (after i fiberglass them) im gonna wrap in suede i think too, so the WHOLE panel will be suede, with the exception of the armrest insert, those are staying stock. i may still do vinyl on them instead of a full suede door panel. not sure.

but for the dash, i have 2 ideas. leave it stock, and just suede accent items such as the glove box, the panel under the steering wheel, airbag cover, and the cubby door, and maybe the radio bezel.

OR

cover the whole top of the dash (that top removable piece thats seperate from the bottom of the dash) including the airbag, cubby, and radio (so the whole "waterfall" thing is suede, accenting the bottom part of the dash. if i do this idea (which im leaning more towards this personally) the glove box and panel under the steering wheel will stay un-covered. im going to snap a pic later of what it looks like now with the A pillars installed.

I'd say option 2. I've seen it done in paint (ie the top half of the dash was sanded smooth then painted) and it looked awesome.

And can be a pain in the ass when you're trying to incorporate a linear actuator.

I think option 2 is what I'm going with as well. Think it'll be too much suede?

How are you going to not cover the dash air bag if you are covering it in material? Air bags should not be restricted... I think I see the caps from your A pillars which is a good thing they are not covered, but the dash?

the airbag cover is going to be wrapped in suede and re-installed. im not wrapping over the seam around the airbag cover. it should still pop out in the event of an accident.

a thread i made months ago about unhooking it, you said the plug was either in the side panel or under if i drop the glove box, so thats why i mentioned it haha. ill check it out tomorow though in the day time. i dont have time to remove all this and cover it in a day, so thats why i need to safely disconnect the airbag so i can remove the cover and the top of the dash, but still drive the car to work etc. while im upholstering the dash.
