Lee, I have had so many vehicles with etched glass that I guess I don't notice it that much. I did have to go to court once, on a design I did on guys custom van (way back in the day...lol) I etched a full moon on the drivers window, but left a pair of seagulls clear and they were placed to give the driver optimal use of his sideview mirror, once I explained it to the judge, he decided that he would need to see it for himself and when he looked he determined that the design was legal...I myself would not have chosen to take away as much visibility as my friend, but it fit his design theme...what can you sya about taste...hahaha. Funny thing the design would now be illegal because of tint type laws making it illegal to block the driver from the view of law enforcement.

At the Hot Rod shows i see window etchings all the time and i have seen them on lil triangle vent windows, corners of all windows and i have to say i havent seen any that i did not like when i saw it in person.

during the day that pic will look alot different and the flash really makes it stand out more than normal

i would like to see day pics for a more normal look

here is an example

cj, the example that you posted is the ultimate in this art form...carved glass...extremely beautiful, extremely painstaking and oh my god expensive...oh yeah and way cool...what I do is a but more simplistic, and better fits the direction of my build. To do the type of carving that you showed takes an engraving unit much like the paragraver, again, that is what I consider the ultimate in glass work... You are correct about the photographic quality or lack there of in the pics I posted. There will be more pics up after the run, to give a better representation...

Nice, How hard is this to do? Do you use a stencil or overlay? I would like to do this but smaller.

How does etching affect the integrity of the shatter-proof glass? Is the etching on inside or outside? To be honest I can't recall if the coating on auto glass that keeps it from shattering is on inside, outside or both.
