Paint headlights
Paint headlights
So I'm thinking I'd like the areas of my headlights that aren't essential that they are mirrored to be black. I know there are the DEPO headlights for about $75/ea available from what I'm seeing...but I'm cheap, and semi-adventurous. I am thinking of opening my headlights and doing the painting myself. There was a nice article in mitsubishi-forums.com about pulling lights apart to paint them/install angel eyes (another thing i'm thinking of doing while i'm in there)
Anyone here ACTUALLY done it with an HHR? I'd assume the same steps for opening; bake in an oven for about 10 minutes on 200 to soften the glue, do your painting, then bake again and reassemble.

i used combination of a 1500 degree heat gun and a dremel tool it took a long time to get them apart. but I am getting close to them back together. I painted them VR Ill post pics when they are done.
havoc3d,
I suggest, too, that ya buy aftermarket lights and CUT 'em open to paint. It took me about 5 hours and a TON of frustratioin to heat and get mine apart.
Use a Dremel, (there's a post about how someone else did it on here somewhere) save yourself a ton of time and frustration.
Here a pict of my 'before' and 'after'. Note the 'masectomy' that was done, too... PM me if ya want info on that...

I'm not into the headlight mods that are so prevalent these days, some are good, some are bad, and some are plain dangerous. That being said, if I were inclined to do any headlight modifications I would just spend the money and get the Depo's as they seem to be quality units. To echo Jeff, just my

buy a spare set and work those over, that way if you mess up, you won't be out working headlight housings on your car..
