power for interior LEDs in HHR LS 2011

I would like to mount LED lights under my dash so I'll need a constant 12v. I was thinking of tapping into the cigarette lighter. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I just installed blue LED's under my dash and the bucket seats. I ran the power wire to the steering wheel control fuse because it was the lowest I could find (2 amp). Whatever you choose, find the lowest you can so you reduce your fire hazard. You will just have to decide if you want the lights on with or without the ignition.

Actually I was wondering if anyone had any pics of how to take the lower passenger side panel off the center console. I also need to know which wire the AC 12v plug in is.

Sincerely (but not overly so),

The fuse access panel on the passenger side of the console will just pop off with a little tug, you can't break anything. Here's a link to a thread from earlier this year on tapping power off of that fuse box, its about stealing juice for a GPS, but 12v is 12v.

Coming from a certified 12V car stereo installer, I can tell you there is plenty of sources for Ignition switched power in the fuse box in the center console. If your putting in LED's you should have no concern of popping any fuses as the LED's draw VERY little current. Good Luck!

Question

How can you tap into the fuse box using an add-a-circuit, but WITHOUT using a switch ? I just want the LEDs to power on and off with the dome lights ( I don't care if they dim out with the domes - just turn off). I wired them to fuse #27 and they turned ON just fine with the dome, but then they remained lit and wouldn't go off after the 20-seconds with the rest of the stock interior lights. I flipped the add-a-circuit both ways with no joy as well. What am I missing here ?
