Question about the satin trim...
I got this bright idea about painting the doorhandles and grille black, instead of the satin finish, now I'm pretty sure paint would come right off if you dont prep it somehow, but just wondering if anyone has any tips?

Check this thread. Jeff® painted the door handles and chrome A/C vents a flat black. Not sure how he prepped it though. As far as the grille goes, Just make sure it's nice and clean, take some fine grit sand paper and scuff it up a little and you should be ready to paint

I dunno how the vinyl inside the headlights would work out... Have you thought about tinted covers for them? Here's a link for a company that makes a pre-cut film that applies to the outside of the head lights that you can order in a couple of different colors.

Or, you could just order some headlights from the Fall Edition HHR's. They were tinted from the factory. Check this thread for pics, part numbers, and more

Dont even bother trying to take the OEM headlights apart. If you wanna take them apart buy aftermarket. (someone on here painted the inside of aftermarkets) The OEM headlights are sealed w/ this stuff that will cause you to destroy the housing of the headlight. I take apart and clean headlighs for a living, for now, and cant get a HHR apart and have it nice enought to resell. They are sealed w/ this crazy crap, only one of a few headlights I have nto gotten apart.
