questions reguarding HID install

ive heard a few different things, wanted to make a thread since i couldnt really find all the info i needed searching here.

i bought a hi/low beam HID kit from DDMtuning, which some of you guys have on here (not sure about the hi/low bulb, but i know a few of you run DDM)

as far as wiring it up, ive heard some ran new power wires etc...someone also said i didnt need that, just to hook the power wire into the power wire on the stock connector that plugged into the stock bulb, and the same with ground.

relays, do i need them? i believe my kit came with a relay since its a hi/low beam kit, not just the low beam.

any other info i may need to install these would be appreciated!! planning on getting them in soon :)

Yours shouldn't have came with a relay. At least the Hi/Low kit I got from DDMtuning.com didn't.
I had to splice a larger eyelet onto the main power wire so it would fit on the underhood terminal. You are going to need this as well as the grounds.

I grounded the drivers side with the bolt used to mount the horn.

I also had to lengthen the wires about a foot or so to reach the passenger side. I drilled a couple of holes through the lower lip of my front bumper and zip tied the harness in place. It's out of the way of anything so it won't get pinched or stretched and no one will ever see it.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask

The hi/low HID kit from DDM comes with the harness already. Should have a power ran to the battery positive post and everything. Pretty simple install. I have it on my HHR.

Legal?

These are HID kits sold for off-road use only, correct? Once this kit is installed, the HHR can never again legally use a public highway at night.

There should be a wire with ring terminals. The red one with the fuse goes to the positive battery post.

Exactly... and how many cops do you know that can tell you which HID is factory installed (DOT legal) and the HID aftermarket (illegal).

I'll keep my illegal HIDs and see 18 million times more than you can. TNX!
