Wow...you're right. There's a lot of cool stuff there. I have bookmarked the site. Thanks for the info.

yeah, although I love suicide knobs and have used several over the years they are illegal in many states. They're considered a hazard because they can catch onto things and prevent the steering wheel from turning.

Too bad they are illegal...because I think they are kinda cool.

There are so many things nowadays that can cause accidents that aren't illegal...at least not yet. Can't tell you how many accidents I have seen nearly caused by someone talking on cell phone, especially young kids with a limited amount of driving experience. Another thing that causes problems here are those clear white tail light lenses on some 4X4 trucks that nearly blind you when you're behind them.

I'm sure we'll be seeing laws about them here soon too.

This one is legal, my son uses it along with his left foot gas pedal. We put this in the HHR (thank you GM) and all our cars so he can jump in and go. Just have to be very careful and remove it for the car wash or valet parking or the tire store, but that's another story...

I had a '49 Fleetline Fastback too. Also had a knob on it. Wish I still had that car.

I used to hear them referred to as "Necker's Knobs" back in my early driving days in the '50s around Albany, NY. I had two of them on my '48 Plymouth Coupe. The ones I had weren't a ball shape though. I'd say they were more like the shape of a hockey puck. Fit nicely in the palm of your hand. Unfortunately I hear they're illegal here in Arizona
