Rear View Camera

I had installed a back up camera in my last HHR and it was kind of a pain getting it through the rear hatch. Has anyone tried mounting one inside so it veiws through the rear window?

Not yet. With my panel I'm trying a different approach and mounting it on a rear spoiler (still working on it). I messed with putting one inside the rear window, but it couldn't get the view I wanted - the window frame was always in the way.

On my last HHR I had it mounted to the license plate frame. But hated drilling a hole through the lift gate.

What's wrong with the knockout next to the license light?
backup camera for HHR GM part number 20909472
Here's a how-to for Tahoe, uses similar applique. https://chevroletforum.com/forum/tah...5Ck-suv-22756/

Yeah, I only see a screw next to each plate light. Maybe there's something under the lens?

Then these drill a 1/4 inch hole in the trim

OR remove one of the lights. It looks like the left is different from the right

Either way there is a route for the wire.

On my 2010 SS to the right of the tail gate button is a plastic knockout square.

Yea I could remove one of the plate lights. A 1/4" hole would not be big enough. Most cameras have a connecting plug on the end that would require about a 7/16" hole to fit through
