replacing the steering wheel

Has anyone else looked into getting an aftermarket steering wheel replacement for our existing setup? At this time I'm still debating whether or not to do a steering wheel swap with an aftermarket without bags. A matching two-tone steering wheel perhaps:

There is nothing aftermarket that will work with the airbags and wheel controls.

I've been looking for a while and have just recently decided on a wheel. I don't have stereo controls (have a remote - don't need 'em), and don't ever use cruise control either. I will be wiring in 2 switches to control the DIC ("a" for page, and "b" for reset), on the two outer wheel spokes.

Still not sure about the 'bag situation, but there is a work around, Erich from Darkside did a wheel swap for their SEMA car and they had it running without bags. It can be done. Losing the airbags is always a safety concern - but I got along fine without them for many years.

A late model GM wheel adapter should get you going.
Good luck,

It should be the same as the Caviler, Cobalt, S-10. Late model adapter and a 20omh resister will keep the air bag light off. Minus the hands on controls it is quite easy. Bags sell for decent money on ebay as well.

yeah i figure since I dont use overdrive and can live without volume control. I'll look around some more to figure out exactly what parts are needed for the mod. Thanks for the info!
