steering wheel

Anybody have any ideas on covering up that cheep looking chevy logo in the center of the steering wheel? I never really noticed it until I was stuck in traffic and all of a sudden I looked down and thought "that looks like crap."

I like a fatter wheel, so I found a nice black cover with Chevy written in red on the top and each side (my HHR is red so it matches). But, unless I wrap it with leather rope, it does not neatly go around the wheel. It does feel nice, though.

I wish we could change the entire wheel like in the old days. But, with airbags, radio controls, and cruise control those days are long gone.

Just remember that's where the airbag comes out. So whatever you cover it with will be launched at your face upon impact...

One thing I've noticed about the HHR steering wheel: The basic design is shared with some other GM models.

For example: The "fake SS" folks can go to your local Chevy dealer and get a center emblem with SS on it. I saw this on a Malibu Maxx.

I've also see a couple with chrome cover plates on the wheel buttons also. I really don't know if any of the above pieces can actually be ordered seperately, though.

For covers, the nicest I've seen are from Wheelskins. They are real leather to be laced up (a very tedious job to do right! I did a double thread baseball stitch on my Mercedes... it took a few hours, but looked fantastic.) The Wheelskins are available in various colors and patterns, too. Great quality.

anybody know how hard it would be to change the steering wheel.I'd like to put a smaller diameter wheel in cause I have some clearance issues with my legs so I have to drive with the wheel in the tilted all the way up position.I don't think I would mind not having an airbag since I feel like I'm sitting to close to it anyway..

I second the Wheelskins. I put one (Euro Tone) on my HHR and it really feels nice.
