Rusty Hood Trend
#26
anybody notice that half of the cars in the first link have mismatched doors, lights, fenders etc......I can understand some of mods/fads of today, like I could for "back in the day"(remember running around with NO HOOD!! I do 8-D) but seriously. The rusty hood car parts just looks like you are to cheap to get it painted/taken care of. Its not like you are building a sleeper where you have a monster motor under the hood of a car that is all beat up, some of these kids are taking perfectly good hoods, and only hoods, and sanding/grinding the paint and primer off so it will rust??I just dont get this one. Wonder what the next fade will be, broken winshields? license plates hanging by one bolt? Wear marks from broken power mirrors hanging by the cord and swinging on the door? Actually I have been seeing alot of the last one around here lately. Please, if you happen to break your power mirror off and it is hanging by the cord, just put it in a plastic bag, pull the bag through the open window till the bag is holding it up, and then close the window on the bag so it holds the mirror up. save yourself some extra body work. geez, I am kind of long winded arent i? LOL

Does anyone know what this looks like on an HHR I was thinking about buying a hood to try it on and then rust match the grill. Im not sure about it but Ive seen alot of cool cars with it done. Feel free to share your opinions about my question or just what you think about the idea of it. Heres a link of some pics http://blog.cardomain.com/2009/01/30/rusty-hood-trend/

On the HHR, I could understand the 'patina' look, but to just let the (rather thin) sheetmetal rust? Seems like you would have holes quickly.
Maybe my beater truck is at the forefront of a new fad- the POS look!
