Steelie Caps
I would say that chrome lug nuts might also be in order since you are drawing attention to the center of the wheel anyway.....
that and trim rings would definitely give you that Old School look.

That sucks. Sounds about like my luck. What did you use to cleam your rims? I had some aluminum wheel cleaner that I used on mine but now my rims have a white residue everywhere except where the hubcaps had them covered.
I was going to use chrome initially but they were out of stock. So I went with the black & I was quite happy with the look. I'll probably get some chrome ones when the black starts chipping off these.
These are the stock wheels for the LS Panel. I took off the 5-spoke hub cap & these are what I found underneath. Nice huh? When I first pulled the hub caps the wheels were dirty & I figured I'd have to re-paint them but all it took was some soap & water & they still had the nice GM paint color on them. I had to change out the lug nuts because the stock ones were hideous. Do you have aluminum wheels?
Not to hijack, but here's how I did mine...for those of us who don't have access to a machine shop

One of my caps flew off somewhere over the weekend (the one I didn't put Loctite on) Doh!
