Steering wheel swap question??

I now want to swap my 2010 to a leather wrapped steering wheel with audio controls. (I do miss my controls from my last vehicle
) Anyway the question is, are the 2010 parts interchangeable with 06-09 models? If so, then I think this mod would work for me.

Ok, well I got the new steering wheel in, and attempted the swap tonight and got hung up. Got the airbag off fine, got the steering wheel nut off, then that's it. Steering wheel is stuck on there good. So anyone with experience, any tips/tricks to get this bad boy off??? I used some WD40 on the spline, let it soak, and attempted to tug it off again for about 30 minutes, and gave up as I ran out of time.
Any ideas???

Yeah, chances are you will need a puller to get the wheel off. For me, even with the puller, I had to tighten it so much I thought something was going to break. When it did come loose, there was such a loud crack that I was sure the worst had happened, but it was just the wheel releasing from the splines under pressure.

There was definitely no pulling this steering wheel off by hand. As prod said, when using the puller I was also worried I was tightening it too much, but it finally released with a loud crack. And I done it before reading your reply, and I too was sure I had broke something.
I had to go all around town to find a puller that actually worked. I tried a 2 prong clamp type, couldn't get it, tried a 3 prong, no go... Borrowed a steering wheel remover kit from Advance Auto, nothing in the kit helped me, finally went to O'Reilly as a last resort, and in there kit was the GM wheel remover arms!!! Granted it was a $70 security deposit on the loan, but hey when I got back home, disconnected the battery, pulled off the airbag, used the puller, and the old wheel was off, and new one on in less than 10 minutes.
Works great, looks great, so glad I found that thread on here about it. I would've never thought about switching the entire wheel.

Oh I completely agree. Well worth the money/time for this mod. I just say have that puller on hand in case you get stuck like me, lol... Nothing worse than having your car apart, and need a tool across town...
