first, figure out if you want type 1 or type 2 switchbacks. check youtube for the differences. both are running lights as white, but type 1 flash back and forth from white to amber when blinker is on, type 2 just flashes amber. definitely don't go for the cheapest you can find, I got type 1 120 LED 60/60s with resistors for about $50. I have LED tails too, not sure if that effects the need for resistors, but the switchbacks are plug and play, I never installed the resistors on mine tho, kinda like the fast strobe of my type 1s

Not sure what year your HHR is, but my 06 didn't need resistors. Think it might have something to do with the parking lights as DRL's verses headlights.

Just too bad the switchbacks came out later.

These are the best, hands down: http://www.automotivelightstore.com/...chbackkit.aspx

I installed them in my Camaro for awhile....but decided to go with just a standard amber LED:

If interested in getting rid of the switchbacks, let me know (PM). They came out after I purchased my tower amber ones and can't justify the cost of new ones now....
