I've researched and searched this question. Is it advisable to tint outside or inside of tailights? Also does it help to upgrade to LED bulbs?

It is applied to the exterior of the lens. LED bulbs should not be necessary but I do not know what the law is for your state. Michigan only states that when lit they must appear red and visible from 500 ft.

 

Tint to your liking then finish with a couple coats of clear to make them glossy.

 

did tails and side markers, just a couple of coats for a dark red, not black

 

It goes on the outside. Remove them first, and paint them on a bench. It's simple as pie. (except when you drop a nut down into the bottomless pit requiring a long skinny arm or a stick with a magnet on the end). I did mine with three coats, the maximum recommended, (for off-road use only ).

 

Any special brand of clear coat?

 

Just did this last week.....I got the dupli color clear that comes with it when you buy it on Ebay....ordered it Friday received it Monday.....about $35 for both shipped.
