So, has anyone else noticed how soft the glass is, and experienced any majors glass dings???

Fortunately, the glass did not crack or "web"....

I just bought my car 2 weeks ago and had to use my windsheild wiper 3 days later. Then I washed the car and found a scratch in the windsheild in the form of an arc in the exact pattern of the wiper. The scratch was deep enough that the dealership agreed to replace the windsheild under warranty. I checked the windsheild wiper but could not see anything wrong with it. I have owned 12 new cars over the years and never had this problem before. Any way the dealership is taking care of it so thats good.

I think I have windshield replacement on my insurance...I better check.

I also have a big crack on my windshield on my Blazer, which has been on there for about 10 years now...I should have gotten it replaced before I changed my coverage..what was I thinking. Actually, it was because I had a bad experience with a windshield replacement on my C10 Van. When the new one went on, it was at the very end of the rainy season. So, during the summer months to follow, I thought all was well. Then the first rain came, after some 9 months, and low and behold, there was a leak. When I inquired with the installation company, they said it was out of warranty. Being young and naive then, I let it go, but had some nasty water leaks.

Well, I guess that is the way it goes sometimes. Hopefully, I do not get a ticket for my Blazer, and the HHR ding does not turn into a crack!

Seeing as it's coming out of my pocket anyways I told them to tint a 6" glare strip in while they are at it. That way I at least feel a little better about spending the money. :)
$500......................that's an expensive glare stip!!!!!!

I can't believe that your insurance doesn't cover glass. Mine does and I pay a little extra for a zero deductible. There is a company nearby that sells sand and gravel. Some of that falls out onto the area roadways.

Thanks CH for pointing out that issue. I called my ins comapny and they said i'm fully covered for glass and I also have a zero deductable. However I do have around 500 bucks worth of dings, dents, and stratches. So I too will have to spend money to keep the cars natural apperence.
