No it's because of how soft the factory GM glass is. I have had several rocks hit my window since I have switched to a PPG replacement and not one chip or crack. One of them was a pretty large rock that hit very hard, I was sure it was going to crack but it didn't even chip. The guys that replaced my window even made a comment as to how soft the GM glass was.

I agree with the Capt. here. PPG does make a good glass. Been there, done that with previous cars. They have a great reputation and make a quality product.

Windshield Dings

I recieved a Windshield Ding last week. One hit two chips 1/4" apart.
Ins company paid to have them filled. They are just left of my
line of sight. I focused on chips for first couple of days but don't
notice as much anymore. I understand the compound that they
use dosen't allways stop the winshield from cracking further. Will
keep you posted.

Well back on 4/5 I posted about my windshield ding. It was about a dime size chip but then the crank grow over about a month. So I called to get it replaced. Lucky for me no out of cost. I talked to the glass company and they agreed it was a costly piece of glass. She finally told me the cost and..... everyone make sure you are sitting. She told me my cost would be about a grand. She said it was because it is so new and the shape/size.
Glad I have full glass covage.
So anyone in Arizona I suggest you make sure you are covered.

Thanks Erf! Time to start putting away for that...

BTW - we missed you at the Solvang Run!

There was only ONE other Amethyst HHR there and it WON the car show!

Hope you can make it next time!

I got a "bullseye" from a rock and used the epoxy stuff to do a repair. Worked preet well. I had the HHR at Solvang and no one mentioned a crack. I hope to applie a little more as the is still on small circle. I think I paid $12. If it is a "Bullseye" ding, try it.
