I got one last Monday. The price of a windshield replacement scares me.

The guy explaned that it was because of the way the window is made. It is not just a sheet of glass, it has a plastic case that goes all the way around the glass. All the glass places I called kept telling me it was expensive before they would even give me a quote.

Hi. New to the board read your post about the chips. I have about 4 on my windshield already and have it about two months. I thought it was just me. Lucky they are really small. All in the same area. Debating weather to call dealer or not.

CH, let us know how the new glass hold up to dings - I have a feeling it might be more durable. I have several small pits in mine already...

New crack

With the rains here in California, it has cause quite a bit of loose debris on the road. Well, one of those big rocks just slammed into my windshield and put a Quarter sized web crack on the drivers side. (at eye level no less)

I just returned from a trip to LA and back without any dings. What luck....I suppose I should be happy that I can go get that windshield with Tint like the Capt.

Fortunately, it was during work, so I can expense it.

Capt, what was that company that made your new windshield?

Hey Erf - sorry to hear about your misfortune. If you get the new "dotless" glass, let us know what it cost you in CA, k?

Thanks.

Well add me to the list of glass dings. Took a rock on my way to work today.
It is not that bad so I am not rushing to get it fixed. I have to agree I think the glass seems soft. I had many very tiny pits in my glass. Seems that those tiny pits had to come from minor things.
Lucky I have glass coverage so it wont be out of my pocket. Once I get it fixed I will let you know what the cost was here in Arizona.

Cool I can't believe it...

Yesterday, a rock, bullet, missle or ????
hit my windshield. Have a dime size ding. Am going to try that epoxy stuff to repair and keep it from cracking outward.
I have seen it used once and it was hard to see the repair. The epoxy kep it from spreading, and sealed the cracks so they became clear as before the damage.

I'll let youse guys and gals know.

Wife's HHR windshield was hit by a small pebble that came off a flatbed truck last Friday. Car was parked all weekend and Monday morning there was a
crack, serpentine in shape around 10" long. Had to use the car and the crack
expanded across the windshield in drivers line of sight about 18" inches more.
Needless to say, windshield was replaced yesterday. Thank goodness for no
deductible insurance on glass in my state. We've had dings on windshields
before but never had one crack like this one did.

it is because the windshield is so vertical not much of an angle to it
so when somthing hits it it does more damage than normal it does not just bounce off
gm part number is 19120130 price is $360.00 plus tax in cdn funds plus
