Windshield haze?
Putting hot water on auto glass is a very, very bad idea. If you do it in cold weather you will crack the glass. Of course, it depends upon how much hot water hits the glass and how fast. Best to completely abandon the hot water technique.
I see the "colored" drips/runs WITHOUT sunglasses.
I have no idea if its OEM windshield but i looked for a name or manufactorer of the glass and there is nothing in any of the corners. (Even under the rubber piece at the bottom)
It looks oem but who really knows. Has the black dots thing at the top..........

Thanks for replying...
I need to correct my statement. The windshield should be marked in the bottom center with the GM logo and Crinamex, which is the OEM. If you DO NOT have this, it is an aftermarket windshield. But don't make to much of this, the OEM glass "sucks" by comparison to many recognized glass manufacturers.
I was just wondering if the windshield was replaced with something even cheaper than the OEM
, which may account for the rainbow problem. But as you mentioned, I would strongly discuss this with the dealer as a safety problem.

Let me know how you like the glare x. My windows are terrible at night when its raining. The haze/glare is very bad when you meet a car.
***UPDATE***
Got the glare-x in the mail yesterday.... Ofcourse i jumped on it and well....quite honestly....NOTHING!!!!
I couldnt believe it! Nothing has worked!!! (OKAY HONESTY PART) To be fair i tried the glare-x on the Trailblazer we have and OMG what a difference it made! The TB's windshield looked absolutely incredible! I highly recommend this stuff!
So i took the HHR to the dealer today and spoke to the salesman from whom i bought the vehicle. I explained everything except the paint thinner part..
...and he stated it should be under a warranty still with it being "certified". Drove it into the Service Area and had 3 guys look at it. Finally they called the service manager over he too scratched his head. I have to bring it back Tuesday and leave it for the morning as they are going to have a glass company come out and "polish" the glass? He thinks an acid chemical or something is on there and they can scrub it off. I hope so. The way i see it is they are acknowledging the problem and if this does not work than i need to look at them replacing the glass right?
What does anyone else think? Will they try to get me to pay for this?

ok...LAST update.
Took the car to the dealer this morning and said he would need it for atleast 4-5 hours for the polishing/grinding. ofcourse i said no problem and wouldnt you know it.........He called me in 45 minutes. The company they used worked on 1/2 the windshield and quit saying this was not on the outside of the glass. They tested the inside and nope....nothing there either!
They came to the conclusion the glass was seperating from the "protectant" thats applied. Weird **** i gotta tell ya!
They are ordering me a brand new GM windshield. Should have it in a couple weeks.
Anyone need window cleaning supplies?
Just kidding! Thanks to everyone who has tried to assist!
