Thumbs down "WOODY" kits for the HHR

Hello All, I'm still new to the forum (2nd post) so this might be a old topic. I bought a Red 2008 HHR two months back. I have seen pictures of HHRs with "WOODY" kits installed. I think they look great, but before I drop $800 on a kit, is it worth it? How goes the installation and does it stand up to time or start comming off? I have seen other woody kits start fading and comming off within one year. Your opinions requested please. Is there more than one manufacture of these kits? and if so, which is the best?
Many thanks,Great Forum,
Bill

When I purchased my HHR in Dec 2007 I seriously considered a Woody Kit. I did a lot of research. There are many different Woody "looks" and you have to find the one you like best. (I decided to go with a different retro look.)

There are several "keys" regarding a woody mod:

1) How does it adhere to the car?
2) How is the "wood" (plastic or vinyl) protected? How fast will it fade?
3) How long is the warranty and what does it cover?
4) Is there someone that knows how to do a professional installation and stand behind their work? (Unless of course you feel you can do it yourself.)

Here are some you can buy:

Many thanks! The Ebay item would save me a couple $100 to boot! Would like to give a try at the install myself. If not, I know a good body man.
Thanks again,
Bill
