08 HHR radio swap.

Greetings! I recently purchased an 08 HHR panel, and I can't seem to find out some info on swaping out the radio. The car currently has the U1C radio and I wanted to swap it for the US9 6 disc cd radio from another HHR. Can this be done? Thanks in advance.

Yes, but you will have to take it to the dealer to be programmed.

Is the wiring the same? Just pull the two plugs and antenna and plug them into the new one? And isnt the 6cd any bigger? There isnt really any extra room in there with just the base stereo.

Back in 2006, I swapped out my one disc for a 6 disc and they swapped out with no fitment issues at all...it was a piece of cake. Unplug old one...plug new one into same plugs. Much to my surprise, the new one wouldn't work until I took it to the dealer to have it programmed...and was charged me $89 for doing it. You might want to call and see what, if anything they will charge you...before you do it, so there aren't any surprises.

Now here is the twist. The radio I have is from a Tahoe, will this still owrk in the HHR, or are the rear plugs different?

Just a quick idea....Some dealers use outside stereo / repair shops....They might be able to tell you.... Plus they have the code's or can obtain them from the dealers they do work for....Good luck
