2010 HHR & Sirius

I have one more question on my car. My car was a former rental and it came with a factory radio that has the menu and Cat buttons, but of course no OnStar. I had an aftermarket ISimple module installed along with a Sirius "Brain" so that I can keep my stock radio, but add on to my Sirius account.

The problem I am running into is the dealer is not able to activate the XM radio without having the OnStar Module. Does anyone know what I can tell the dealer they need to do to get it activated without paying $$ for the OnStar module?

I'm trying to avoid spending an extra $200 on something I would not be using. I'm really not into having a company tracking my driving style if I am not subscribing to them.

There was a notice posted that OnStar won't do that.. But I would contact Sirius XM and explain the situation.. See if that does the trick..

Contacting Sirius isn't the issue. The issue is that I can't get the radio to show the XM feature and neither can the dealer apparently unless I had the OnStar module installed.

Then get a different module and run it through the Aux input

I already have an aftermarket unit that is run through the aux input, but wanted to keep the clean look of just the factory radio.

Ok. I now have an answer from one of the other dealerships. It winds up that since my car was not built with either XM or OnStar from the factory, that it would wind up NOT being able to have even XM installed after the fact, unless I went with an aftermarket unit(which I already have). The reason being is that the car was ordered from the factory to have both deleted, but they did put a basic stereo in there(one that has an auxiliary input).

He did say there would be a SLIM chance to get a stereo with XM installed, but that would take permission from Chevrolet to do it. And it would cost money to have that taken care of no matter what. Oh well-this was an expensive way to find out I would not be able to have it in the car after all!

Call to junk yards around, and see if they have any HHR's with XM capable head units in them.. cheaper that way... and it should be easy enough to swap out with a little research..
