So due to some piss poor luck and a crappy driver my 06 LT with premium sound has gone to the big HHR party in the sky.

My new(to me) 2011 LT doesn't have the prem sound installed. It does have the cat button that shows XM option or something to that extent. saddly the Aux port shorts itself anytime you move.

So I'm trying to decide what the best way to go. Personally I love the look of the stock radio and would love to get an xm module installed at the very least an maybe swap the HU out to regain the use of the aux port.

So I guess I'd like y'all opinions on how best to proceed as the dealership swears the only way to do it is to add a tuner to the FM antenna or something.

option one: dealers way and about 600 bucks

option two: new HU from audioexpress, frys etc with XM/Sirius but its gotta look good in the car

option three: ebay for a compatible XM module and/or HU

I've read a couple of the other threads that have some of the info but i'd love y'alls opinions and suggestions.

and no I don't have the ability to pull the system out of the 06. The dash was all shades of messed up

The 06 radio wouldn't work in the 11.
I'd go with after market there are a tons of threads here for great stereo set ups.
Then the EBay way for a 2011 compatible OEM HU maybe less expensive.

From what I see U2J means "XM not installed". 1LT means its a 1LT.

Have you looked behind the quarter panel interior trim panels for the XM module? I am assUning that you already looked for the "sharkfin" on the roof.

The VIN decoder here is broken, but Google will probably lead you to one.

Other than that, I don't see a question.

Was less of a question thread and more of a here's what I'm thinking I'd like opinions to see what others have done. Especially if you've found a deck that compliments the car.

I deal with concert lighting 7 days a week I don't want a disco show in the car ;-)

 

No module for me kinda glad I looked didn't realize I'm missing the insert that covers the access to the left rear lighting

It should look awesome, full screen, very similar to other HU's

In the next couple of days it's getting pulled out before the dealer gets a rude awakening. The YoYo tactics they're pulling has put a damper on this great little gem.
