Unhappy Aftermarket stereo issue!!!

What's up guys!? First time poster here. I'm having issues with my stereo in my beautiful '06 HHR.

So... I have the pioneer premium system edition. I installed a JVC KW-M560BT HU with the harness doo-hickey for all the chimes and stuff. I also have an amplifier for my 2 12in subwoofers. Door speakers are all factory. Everything worked great for like a year.
Then, all of a sudden, I would just randomly lose audio. For several months, simply turning off and on the HU would remedy it. Now, nothing fixes it. My HU would randomly restart sometimes too. I updated the firmware on it to see if that would do anything. No dice.
Factory reset my HU and that seems to have fixed the rebooting issue for now but I still do not have any sound. My amp for my 2 subwoofers does not turn on even with the HU on and fully functioning.

I'm thinking maybe the factory amp is bad? Does the factory amp need to be functioning properly for my subwoofer amp to receive a power signal from the HU?

I'm an absolute NOOB when it comes to factory amplified sound systems so I don't really know where to begin to start troubleshooting it. Any advice is greatly appreciated. THANKS!

Welcome to the forum. When you bought the interface and HU where did you purchase those?
If you go to Crutchfield.com you can see what they have available for your year and factory HU replacement, see if there’s anything else they suggest to adapt your new HU replacement to you 7 speakers system.
if you spliced in a harness, is it possible a loose connection? Did you solder or crimp the wires?

I purchased the HU and interface from crutchfield. Followed all the instructions and what not. Everything worked for a solid year. Wires are all crimped. I checked those connections and all seem to be good. I didn't find any wires that seemed burnt or anything. If the factory amp goes out, would that cause everything else to not work? If so, how do I go about troubleshooting the factory amp? Thanks for the reply!

I have a Pioneer Premium amp. Pulled the unit from a wreck and just used just used the subwoofer and grill to upgrade a base system. You could prolly find one locally though.

I might try this if I can determine that it is indeed the factory amp that is faulty.
