Antenna mount and antenna

As I was going down the road, the antenna mount's plastic cover broke off some how. So it took my antenna with it, too. I am not sure where it broke off at. I was wondering if there is a cheaper way to fix or replace the mount? I have not seen much about the mount here. Plus if I get the factory mount replaced, which antenna should I get? There is so many different antennas that I could get, but it is just so hard to pick one since I use the FM radio a lot. I live the flat area with a few hills.

Well being that the antenna is matched to the OEM head unit, and tuned for maximum reception thanks to its length, I'd recommend going for an OEM base and replacement antenna.

The base is GM PN 15951992 with a list price of $81.42, but a Google search will turn them up for $50-55.

The antenna is GM PN 15837840 with a list price of $31.10, but a Google search will turn them up for $15-20.

I see. Can I just get a shorter antenna? I reading some posts on here. After reading a bit, I was looking at 7 or 8 inch antenna. I was even thinking of an Equinox antenna like someone else was talking about.

The length of the mast makes little difference, it's the length of the wire wrapped around it.

There is an amp built into the interior part of the mount. If it's damaged, no joy.

I'm parting out a HHR now. There is an antenna & base on it. I was going to put it on a Beetle I have but I could sell it.

I know that. That's why I am asking what is best shorter antenna because I never liked the long one and I never knew there was so many till I have to replace it and the mount. I am looking at the AntennaX 7 or 8 inch ones that is on Amazon.

As long as the wire is the correct length and the threads are correct it does not matter.

Yea, I dont really like the some of the really short ones because they don't look like they will work.
