Anyone else have this stereo problem...

So im finding every now and then, for no reason (as in nothing seems to trigger this problem) the radio will just "pop" every now and then, then all sound stops (even the blinker and door ajar sounds) and then slowly all the sound will fade back in. Any idea why this is happening? Or does this happen to anyone else? I love my HHR to death, but its just something thats kinda annoying. It even happens when I just have a cd playing, so its not just a bad fm station or anything. Let me know what you think, thanks in advance guys!

-j

PS - sorry if this is not in the service issues forum, its my 1st post and i assumed all the stereo stuff would be in here. Thnx. :)

I believe there is a service bulletin for this problem.

Basically some wiring under the drivers side carpet needs to be relocated or sepearated.

Take a look at this thread for some info:
https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/problems-service-repairs-42/no-sound-radio-2969/

I know there are other threads on this problem, just can't find them.

The TSB is for that as well.
Just tell your Dealer about the popping, and you would like the latest TSB done. It is not done by the CD, but by the Computer.
There were 2 that used the CD player, but the lastest one uses the Computer.

Mine still does it, we are trying to find out where it is, by how I am sitting, foot placement, and a number of things. Most people that have had the TSB completed have no further problem.

I am just Lucky!

Rose - i appreciate the help! Looked thorugh that post, and its not that i had no sound, it just goes away for a second or to somewhat often. Not due to hitting bumps or anything, its happened on perfectly smooth roads before. But since there seems to be a TSB about it i will just take it into the dealer and see. Thank you so much!

Karen - Ok cool, thanks. Anywhere u know of to find this TSB? And... sorry youre so lucky

Not any more, but just ask the Service Advisor to do the Latest TSB for the popping.

I will look and see if I can find the number for you.

I get an occasional pop from the speakers, while driving with the stereo off.
