Question Auto shut off for radio?

I just bought a 2009 HHR from Seaview Chevrolet in Lynnwood, WA a couple days ago and one of the first I noticed is the radio works even when the key is off.
Will it shut off automatically or will it end up killing my battery like it seems a lot of people are experiencing? I looked for this subject using every combination of words I could think of and having a dead battery was the only subject that seemed to repeat itself.
If indeed the radio will play indefinitely with the car off, is there any way to "fix" it so it works "normal"? Preferably by the dealer?
I'd rather not have a radio at all than get stuck somewhere with a dead battery because I turned the radio down and forgot about it.

Or when you open the drivers door. It's all in your owners manual.

Thanks to both who answered.
I will have to check that out today.
NOTE: I looked through the manual but I can't find it. I looked through both my hard copy and the online manual found in this forum.
Just now I went back to it and searched for "open door", "open the door", "10 minutes", driver, "turn off" and "turns off" but still couldn't find anything in writing.

Not sure why that didn't return any results because on page 2-25 it reads:
Retained Accessory Power (RAP)
These vehicle accessories may be used for up to
10 minutes after the engine is turned off.
• Audio System
• Power Windows
• Sunroof, if equipped
The power windows and sunroof will continue to work
for up to 10 minutes or until any door is opened. The
radio will work when the key is in ON/RUN or ACC/
ACCESSORY. Once the key is turned from ON/RUN to
OFF/LOCK, the radio will continue to work for 10 minutes
or until the driver door is opened.

It's all about understanding how manuals are written, page 2-25

Just found it and was editing my reply.
Thanks for your quick response.
Doesn't explain why Adobe can't find searched for terms in their own document format!

When you get the chance, hop on over to "Introductions" and tell us a bit about yourself.

He probably won't see your welcome because thehaze2009 hasn't been here since August 2009. mike6187 is a spambot. I've seen him (it?) get banned on other sites. He awakened this thread. Notice the sneaky link at the words 'auto accessories'.
