Don't touch that car until you read up on this. It's not rocket science but it's not just a matter of plus to plus, minus to minus. http://www.hellroaring.com/bic75300.php

I'm not sure about that, Quest....

Combiner/isolators have been used in the marine industry for years. Not sure exactly what they do, but when a multi battery system is properly set up with combiner/isolators you NEVER have any problems.

Anyone interested may want to consult a large marine supply store...West Marine comes to mind. They generally have rextensive reference material related to most products.

i like many of the stereo guys here that have either competed or built competitor cars can attest to our methods. its a simple two battery setup nothing many installers see on a daily basis.

now more than 3 batteries like my old hydraulic system in my impala do need some special care. i had 18 batteries in the trunk

Hey..I'm not saying it's absolutely necessary. I'm saying it's not necessarily a sales ploy.

Who knows, if your system worked well maybe it would have worked even better with one of these

I use Kinetik HC2400s. The ESR on these batteries is so low that I can have 2 large batteries charge easier than 1 OEM battery, putting less of a strain on the alternator while having a much higher current capability. There is no need to have an isolator between 2 of these identical batteries unless you wanted to play a large stereo with the car off, without the threat of not being able to start your car.
Also, these batteries have a very low discharge rate due to their dense, solid cell design. So there will be little to no current flow between batteries. they are very balanced and current will only flow to the load.
Wet cell batteries are not too balanced and will have some current flow in between batteries that will create a little heat and could age the batteries prematurely.
Optima makes a good battery too for doing this bu the spiral cell is not as good as the stacked cell technology of the Kinetik.

So basically, if you are using multiple "Wet" cell batteries it will be good to use an isolator.
If you are using a "Dry" cell with a low discharge rate, then you will not need an isolator.

well, it took an act of god (no pun) for GDZHHR to put an aftermarket battery in his car. Just seems people here are kind of scared of modding stuff. it was wird that GDZHHR would be so scared after all he did to his car, but its true.

Ed Razorlite How,s it going. I actually did use those wires and definitely they are only speaker wires high input . Only difference is my HHr 2006 those wires pass through passenger side behind panel at foot level . My basstube has also an input for the lowlevel RCa . If I have no wires in my rear panel for a subwoofer then I imagine I must use the back of the radio . The radio is fully equipped . Do you know the color of the low level input wires ? Any info would be great as the basstube is just not doing much with high inputs

Unfortunately there will not be much more you can do with the existing bass tube. Even if you have the cleanest signal possible, there is only so much you'd get out of it. What brand is it?
I installed many Bazooka tubes in customers cars and they were never that great.
If you want a small powered subwoofer then infinity is really good but I always suggest using a seperate amp (200w is good) and a seperate 10" or 12" sub in a small sealed box.

There is only so much power a powered bass tube can give and they usually overrate them anyway.

I forget what color the signal wires were and I dont have the harness anymore.
