anyone change the stock fishing pole with a stubby what all has to be done

Depends on where you live and the signal strength from the radio station. I had one on my first HHR but due to the area, reception wasn't that great. The regular antenna isn't that bad and I would rather have access to the radio stations so on my current HHR I left the stock one.

It get really good reception now it looks like i have a cb antenna on the roof of my car lol thats all

My "antenna" is just for show really. I don't really listen to the radio (have the PAL attachment that most people hate, but I love). The NPR and news stations have strong signals so am ok when I do listen. It looks much better without or with a stubby. @

There's another thread here on this subject already. Try a search for "stubby antenna" and you'll see loads of links where to buy the stubbies. Like mine there are some that are retractable so it can be a 5" stubby or a 10" reg. antenna when needed.
