Custom Sub Enclosure Install

Hi everyone,

I am new to the HHR world. I recently purchased a 2010 HHR and I love everything about it. I'm in the middle of putting in a sound system (all Boston Acoustics). Right now i have (1) 12" G2 in a pre-fabbed box, GTA 704 amp, (4) 6.5" Components, GTA 500M amp, (2) tweets. I have a Kicker Interface for the OEM head unit because I wasnt sure what head unit I wanted yet. The system sounds AWESOME!! But, naturally I want to beef it up. I have plans to do a lot of custom work to compliment the vehicle. My main question for the forum is "Has anyone installed a custom fiberglass Sub Enclosure over the spare tire area"? I have searched and searched for pics and have not found anyone who has customized their HHR. I am just looking for different ideas. I have an idea of what I want, but i would love some input.

Thanks

http://s244.photobucket.com/albums/gg34/hugheshhr/HHR/ I have my subs installed in a sealed box on top of my spare tire. Its very shallow and I lost around 2 inches of floor space. It's 2 12's, amp, and processor all in that area.. There's plenty of room and options in the spare tire well. I'm fixing to redo mine and add a second amp.

Very nice!! I've decided to go w/ a wrap around fiberglass enclosure. (2) 12", (2) 8", (2) 6x9, these will be on either side w/ amps (mounted in enclosure) behind the seat area. This leaves me room so I can still utilize the spare tire. I plan on starting after the holidays. I will post pics of progress.

I'm probably going to be adding a pair of 15's, a pair of Hertz Mille 3's and an Audison Lrx 2.9 amp. We are still undecided on how to put it all together. Possibly with the subs in a standardish slanted box firing backwards and the amps flushed in the floor under plexi. But it will probably change 2 or 3 times before its all done..

I have my enclosure in the spare tire area. Full size 12" (not shallow). Box is flush with the original tray, and allows me to use the 'shelf' that forms the floor in it's factory position...AND the spare tire is still in place. The ONLY modification is that I had to flip the spare tire over. A portion of my box is built round so it drops into the cavity of the steel wheel.
(I have pics somewhere.....)

Finally found what I did with the pics....
As you can see, the shelf can still be used and does not touch the speaker at all...even at advanced volumes!!
**Please overlook the scuff & scratches...I USE my cargo area**
