Elemental Designs 10" sub
ED has a new low profile 10"er only 3" deep. Anyone have one or know anything about it? I wonder if it would be an effective replacement for the 8" stocker?

Yup, No substitute for cubes! Just like in the old days with high CU displacement v8's. Sometimes, ya just need more cubes!
I'm working on a rear deck up-firing lid with two JL 10's. It will require removing the little do-dad/tool compartment between the rear seat and the cargo area, but we need the room to place the 10's towards the rear seat backs so we can still have a lot of useful utility room without placing objects over the speakers. I routinely place two fifty pound water battles or more in the rear and a lot of other stuff too. I will have to move the cargo rug back when I want full bass. Perhaps they should be down firing?
Gotta have a cargo rug, stuff just moves around otherwise. I'll be reintroducing the cargo net to the car as well. I have been thinking of getting a second cargo rug to pull over the rear seats when they are down to stop all the cargo movement. Yes, we USE the car as it was designed, a family car with utility.
Still debating stereo VS mono on the subs. Yes, low frequencies are omni directional, but from past experience ( twenty years back ) the sonic crossover was always smoother with less strain on the main speakers in a stereo mode. Besides, if you want to hear Pink Floyd's "welcome To The Machine" Properly, you need stereo subs!
It made a difference in some previous cars, but as I say, I'm twenty years out of date with this stuff and working with a current pro, so He'll likely get me to go mono. Heck, I can always make it stereo later if it need to be.
