Factory GM Navigation from Equinox/Torrent

Was wondering if anyone had the idea of putting the navigation from the 1st gen Equinox/Torrent in the HHR. GM part # 20801306. I would get the 2009 model since it is equipped with the bluetooth feature since i have a 09 hhr ss. It is the same size and they use the same non navigation radios we have in our cars and wouldn't see why it wouldn't work.

you need to figure out what it will need for a GPS antenna and might have to re pin the radio harness because they most likely are different

They sell the GPS antenna's on ebay so that wouldn't be a problem. I'm trying to find a picture of what the back of it looks like but can't find a picture.

Have you had any experience with the GM Navigation Systems?

Frankly, after having 5 cars with the system, I personally wouldn't, any longer, order it in a vehicle. They are complicated, to the point that almost every vehicle specific forum has negative comments about it, and they are somewhat inaccurate and the maps are outdated by 1 1/2 years at the time of intro. And they are expensive. A good after market, dash unit is much cheaper and reliable. I also believe, as several of my vehicles were, the system is DVD driven. An update DVD is $200-$400 depending on vehicle.

On the other hand, my wife would not buy a car without it. But I AM more demanding than she is.

I think the biggest hurdle might be whether or not it will interface with the HHR's BCM, or whether it could be made to interface with the HHR at all.

I don't think it will work. The navigation radio uses the OnStar module, which I am sure are different. Plus since the Radio/Nav Unit is not made for the HHR it probably won't program to the vehicle.

Why wouldn't it work? Both cars use onstar and Why would the module be different?

Two different vehicle platforms, Delta(HHR, Cobalt, G-5, Ion) vs. Theta(Equinox, Torrent, Vue, Antera, Suzuki XL-7). Its really an apples to oranges deal, all GM vehicles aren't alike electronically.

The only reason for wanting the stock navigation is because I hate the look of aftermarket units in vehicles. I want the oem look in the vehicle so it looks stock from the factory.
