Do you have to pull the door panels to get to the door speakers or can you just pop off the speaker grills and remove speaker ?

gotta pull the door panels, and you have to remove the pillars for the tweeters. I highly advise replacing the tweeters. Also you will need to pull the door panels off to apply sound deadening anyway. Sound deadening made a huge difference in my car. I get a lot more mid bass now that I have a solid "speaker box" for the door speakers.

Ya Ill put some up. I didnt use deadener (yet), just put in new speakers. I had the base system, which means I had to make adapter rings. The premium system has speakers that can be removed from factory rings, so you may be able to reuse them for aftermarket speakers.

Sorry to dump on the tread but I was curious. replace the tweeters with what? I have a component system in there now and really hate the way it sounds in the store it sounded awesome. I am/was running Apline spr-17s with the stock headunit. I have plans on changing out the headunit though and yeah I'll be losing my chimes

I'll take pictures and get the model numbers for what i used this weekend. You have to cut out the openings in the pillars to place new tweeters there but they sound much less muddy.

I have pics of my door panels I think. Ill look them up tomorrow and post them. I used sheet metal to cover the big openings in the doors, and placed the deadening over that. I used Raamat for deadening. It made a night and day difference.

I have upgraded the tweeters in mine without cutting the pillar, i did some plastic welding to make custom mounts out of the ones provided with the tweeters and then screwed them into the stock screw holes. Im at work now, but i can post some pics when i get home if people are interested. BTW, HUUUGE improvement over the stock tweeters.

hugheshhr, is the sheet metal solid or perforated? how did you pass through the various things that go through the stock foam sheet? did you just deaden close to it and leave a hole?

The metal is solid. I also took the foam off.
