GM PAL questions

Hello, i would like some info on this GM PAL accessory i have read about that can be used for the ipod. I have a few questions if anyone can help.

1. How much does this accessory cost?
2. How much does dealer charge for install?
3. What version of IPOD's can be connected to it?
4. I do not have the audio controls on the steering wheel, will any of the ipod info show on the factory stereo
5. Can the tracks be changed on the car radio or does it have to be on the ipod itself
6. If i leave the ipod in the center glove box, will this charge once i turn on the ignition?
7. Will it automatically turn off once i turn off the car?

The search feature does not accept the word PAL because it is too short. Is there another keyword i can go by.

#3 should be any current one, I have both 80 gig and 4th gen nano

#4 Yes the info will work without steering wheel control

#5 You can change on radio, not everything, you can control playlist find artist, album, song and so on

#6 it will charge only when ignition is on and will turn off when car is off.

You cannot operate ipod itself when it is plugged into PAL

Overall I have been happy with the PAL

I bought mine about 9 months ago and cost me about $150 with shipping.

Good Luck

John

Dealer Install

I am trying to find a dealer in the Nashville area to install one and so far no one even knows what I'm talking about. The last dealer thought I was talking about a garage door opener.
I am under the impression that they have to do it because of XM or I would just do it myself. Does anyone in the area know where I can get it done.

Thank you

Hey there ... I'm in Nashville. I installed my own PAL, it works great, and I'm totally in love with having it in my HHR. I installed my own. Actual install took less than an hour (I did a couple of other things at the same time, like tucking wires, rerouting wires for my Sirius satellite radio, etc.). It's a very simple install. I ordered mine through GM Parts Direct and paid $134 for it. Let me know if you cannot get one of the dealerships to install ... I might be able to help you with it. If you install it yourself with the XM radio, you do have to go to the dealership to have some programming done so that the XM and the iPod play well together and don't argue.
