Got my Nav and stuff!

The UPS fairy brought me all the stereo stuff I ordered today . I'll be popping it in shortly .

Everything I ordered for the install.

Peripheral steering wheel controller thingy and Metra GMOS-LAN-04 to keep onstar, factory amps.

Pioneer iPod video cable and Audiovox wireless transmitter for backup camera (thats going in later).

Pioneer AVIC-F700BT . I can change the button colours to match the rest of the interior lighting .

That is all, thought I'd share. Will post more/better pics after the install.

AVIC was $647, $154 for the harness, $60 for the steering wheel adapter, $26 for the install kit, $90 for the wireless transmitter, $45 for a cheap back up camera, $50 for ipod cable, $10 for antenna adapter.

So about $1100

Looks like a great setup. Let us know how that Backup camera works. I was eyeing a wireless setup also. I was looking @ the Audiovox ACA200 from Crutchfield.

And everything is installed. I never want to install another double din in an HHR again. There's no space behind the radio at all.

Had to fish wire behind the plastic, was a big PITA.

Temporary location for mic and GPS receiver until I tear apart the car to put in new speakers/amp.

It's in!

GPS works.

Bluetooth support

It's no DivX but MPEG4 @ 640x480, 480kbps, AAC audio, ~24fps is pretty good.

Video plays off my iPhone 3G nicely but can't really take a picture since I was using the iPhone camera.

So the verdict, audio quality is better, but the factory amp is weak and can't really keep up so its not really as loud. However, quality has improved.

The factory amp isn't powerful enough to make Bluetooth loud enough to hear. It's very faint.

So my suggestion, if you upgrade nav, replace your amps/speakers as well because the factory system sucks.

Next up - Alpine PDX-5 amp, custom component set and a 10" in the back to replace the factory sub (same location).
