Harness nightmare
Hey everybody .. I have an 2007 hhr panel , with the base radio no amp or onstar. I just bought an indash nav system and im getting two stories. One store is telling me i need an 150 dollar harrness (gm05lan03) but i belive that is only for non amp systems with onstar, the other guy is telling me i need the metra7021 04 but i might lose my door chimes but its only 17 dollars.. thanks for any advice

Depends really on whether you are willing to cut wires or not. If you will cut wires, just look here for the wiring diagrams and go to it. If not, then there are threads here that give you a good idea and what harness to use. Are you just adding the nav system and nothing else? Definetly if you are adding some other components to build a whole system then I would probably no go with the harness. Just my opinion.

the lan harness will allow all the factory functions to still work properly. from what ive been told, all the convience features that are in the steering wheel will not work any longer. if this is not an issue, then the cheaper metra plug will work just fine then

circuit city sold me the metra one for like 15 bucks and i was told that i would lose my chimes. i said the hell with the chimes gimmie gimmie gimmie. well gimmie gimme gimme is what they did... a big friggin pain in the budunkadunk. wrong harness worked 7am to 11pm the next day so didn't get to it till like 3pm when i woke up the following day. i returnd the harnes that they sold me and just ended up hardwiring the radio. saved me a alot of time and some cash, and still got rid of the damn chimes...turning left, chime chime chime chime. turning right chime chime chime chime. one of my five senses is good enough to "see" the arrows.

The metra part numbers you need are either. The GMOS-LAN-03 interface is designed to allow the user to replace the OEM radio with an aftermarket unit in non-amplified 2006-07 Chevrolet HHR, Pontiac Solstice, and Saturn Sky that use the new GMLAN data bus system and retains full functionality of the Onstar system as well as all safety and warning chimes. The GMOS-LAN-03 will also retain the retained accessory power convenience features. This interface has the capability of adjusting chime and Onstar volumes as well. In addition to these features, the GMOS-LAN-03 now has the required outputs for the installation of a navigation radio.

70-2104 This is the harness that will lose the chimes and the retained accessory power. It is just the basic harness.
