Head unit

Guys,

I am about to replace the stock radio with the following unit from Crutchfield.

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_105KWR5...FFDouble%40DIN

I have two questions.

Has anyone had any experience with this unit ?

Upon checkout it wants me to purchase the following part number

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_120OSLA...r.html?tp=3486

I have a 2011 1LT that was purchased used and is an ex fleet car. It
does not have onstar or xm radio. Is this harness necessary ?

Thanks,
Duncan

Duncan,

You do not need a special harness/isn't worth the money when installing that radio. You will lose your door chimes which isn't a big deal. Also you will need to find your RAP wire (Retained Accessory Power) so that your radio will turn on due to the factory radio being turned on by data bus.

As for the radio it is ok not the best choice in my opinion. I just picked up a Pioneer DEH-P9400BH from Ebay brand new for $196.00 shipped. Also available is the DEH-P8400 which is another great cd player with bluetooth for $169.00 shipped off of ebay. If the double din radio is a necessity for you then what you have above may be a good option but there is more out there for your money IMO.
