HELP!!!! radio will not play!!

HELP!!!! Radio will not play!!

The antenna base cracked so I got a new one from the dealer, replaced it and now I'm getting NO sound! No xm, am, fm, or cd's.

I just can't understand why changing the antenna would affect the xm radio and cd's.

Please, does anyone have any ideas???

Without getting this straightened out, Bob won't be going to Peoria.

You can still bring BOB to the show. We want to see it there even if the radio does not work.

Good luck with the problem, sorry I can't help.

If I can't get it working tonight, it'll be going to the dealer tomorrow and who knows how long that will take!!

retrace your steps again. Did you unplug anything from the radio? The only reason I could think of is that the speaker wires from your radio isnt plugged in properly.

The only thing I did was change the antenna base. Never got close to the radio.

Pulled the headliner, disconected and took out old base, installed new base and hooked up.

Turned on radio, no sound at all, not even static. Can't understand why this would affect the entire system!

not sure, but if the antenna is not hooked up properly, i think your radio is not grounded properly causing it not to work.

I know we spoke on the phone Mike, but now that I'm re-reading this, here's what I think:

Possibly the antenna wire got pulled whel you dropped the headliner, causing it to yank the speaker plug out of hte rear of the head unit just enough to interrupt the circuit. there are two plugs (one for power and one for speaker wires), so perhaps only one was nudged by the antenna cable?

My new diagnosis is to pull the radio out and reseat both rear plugs, then retest. If you get sound, button it up and you're on your way.

If not, that dealer is starting to sound mighty good right now...

Hope it helps,

Thanks for the new suggestion Mike.

My interior is already in pieces, I'm not gonna take out my dash and pull my radio too.

If the re-set doesn't work its going to the dealer. I'm way too frustrated to be working on it anyway. If something ain't broke yet, I'll end up breaking something.
